  1. Include text licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY) if proper credit is given at the footer of the wiki page. No other Creative Commons license is compatible with GFDL text.
    • FIXME is this correct? Arguably, CC-BY is also incompatible with GFDL.
Why is it incompatible? cc-by (not share-alike) only requires attribution. The GFDL also requires attribution, so putting cc-by into a GFDL work shouldn't be a problem, should it? Angela@Wikia (talk) 13:53, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, it may be true that you could relicense cc-by into GFDL. But that's not true the other way, like cc-by-sa the GFDL states that you cannot relicense the derivative works. Therefore while cc-by may be relicensed to GFDL, GFDL may not be relicensed to any form of cc, so in the single case of cc-by it is a one-way compatibility, it wouldn't be considered compatible because proper compatibility requires 2-way compatibility. Double check with someone else for a little more reliability on that claim. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Oct 1, 2007 @ 16:34 (UTC)
